Critical Literacy Questions:
What kind of language is used in the text?
The language is a bit off because maybe the parents dropped out of school when they were young or just because they didn't get taught anything because of world war 2.
What is this text about, how do you know?
It's about how you think about the point of view, how things were for them and that if it's bad to kill butterflies or not?
What does the author want us to know?
They want you to think that butterflies can be annoying in your garden (if you grow any cabbage), or just to understand that it was hard for those in the garden growing there cabbage.
How are characters constructed in this text?
What kinds of social realities does the text portray?
That they are telling you that the butterflies eat the cabbage that we eat in our or your garden.
